Background
Previously, adhesive inspection on PCB boards was done manually under fluorescent lighting, which resulted in low efficiency, high rates of missed defects, and the inability to save inspection data. By using Cognex In-Sight vision systems, the client was able to overcome the challenges they faced in adhesive inspection.
Inspection Challenges
Detecting clear waterproof adhesive is difficult under normal conditions, and even with fluorescent agents, the inspection process is complicated due to interference from the PCB board's two-dimensional code and lighting sources.
Work Results
The In-Sight vision system employs four fluorescent lights to illuminate the adhesive area, enabling effective adhesive inspection. Additionally, high-intensity red bar lighting is used to read the two-dimensional code. When inspecting four connected boards, four separate captures are required, and a robotic arm facilitates this process.
